8 Questions to ask your missionary this week February 8

I read about the following 8 questions in an article on-line and decided to give it a try....

1. What has been your biggest challenge this week?

This week the hardest thing was actually finding people that were interested in the gospel. People were kinda tough this week and it was just a crazy week of riding our bike for 22 km just to find out that the member we were supposed to visit is not there and is in the hospital, But no one knows where that hospital is...... ARGGGH!

2. What has been your biggest concern?

Coming home is because in honest truth...... the future is scary because yesterday whilst I was riding my bike I was watching all of these beloved brothers and sisters of mine making bad choices and I cannot change and save them all. And I have only 10 weeks left of being a full time lifesaver and then I will be put on the backburner- kinda. I love this work and one of the best things to do is to share the gospel, no matter who they are or what walk of life they are from everyone needs to here the gospel!

3. What has been your biggest success?

Having Brother E. baptized. This baptism was by far one of the best baptisms ever. I saw that one of the  members changed this man's life. This showed to me that even after the life of a missionary I can still share the gospel and teach people and what not.  I also felt more attached to Brother E.. He is awesome!

4. Who has been your favorite person this week? Why?

Elder Madsen, one of the elders in my district, I have learned so much from him and we are being looked at as the "old"  people in the mission. We know the things we need to change and become SUPER excited for the work of the Lord again!

5. What has been your most significant tender mercy?

Funny story.... we were stranded last pday in a place called อ่าง ทอง (gold font LOLZ if translated). We had missed the last van to Lopburi, so we were stranded without any way to get home. So, I went over to a corner and prayed. About5 minutes passed and a van rolled up and said, Hey, lets go!

6. What are you looking forward to this coming week?

The wedding on Saturday. I am looking forward to that. It so nice to see love and happiness in this dark and evil world

7. Do you have a goal set for this coming week? Tell me about it.

Work as if I was meeting the Savior tomorrow, always striving for him and his glory and becoming like him!

8. Which scripture has had the biggest impact on you this week?

D&C 4:2 Therefore o ye that embark in the service of God serve him with your heart mind and strength

That is the scripture on my planner with the picture of Lehi's family sailing to the promised land,.

A dog bite and road rash...... February 1st

It was a pretty tough week to be honest ;D- that means blessings all round right?? So this whole week I have been sick. I have lost my voice last night and 2 nights ago a dog bit my foot while riding my bike, causing me to fall off of it and slide across the street.

This past week we went to Ayuttya to have a special meeting with President Senior which was awesome. We learned that we are going to build the families up in Thailand. It's gonna be good! We were also told that we need to put together a wedding HOW ON EARTH DO I DO THAT? Any ideas how you do a wedding?? We also talked with our investigator's boss who is a member from Arizona. It was a pivotal moment in our investigator's life. I am convinced without a choice there are moments in our lives that change the course of our life forever. I feel in those moments everything revolves around you and causes you to think. I have had a few of those moments in my mission and they have been for the best. They have changed the course of my life! Anyway our investigator texted us yesterday and said that  he wants to get baptized as soon as possible. Because he knows its true!

This is the time I have to serve the Lord. Elder Gong just wanted to sit down and just talk with us district leaders and how to be a good leader, which is so cool. It's the reason I was transferred to Lopburi because I needed to hear that. I am still wondering why I am here. It's quite bizarre!
I feel like I am a ward builder and Lopburi already has a ward.
God works in mysterious ways. That's all I know and it is fantastic isn't it?

Monkeys and Slingshots January 26

Well here's to the next 3 months right!?
Yes. I have been traveling around a lot its kinda bizarre, but I felt like I was not going to be in Phitsanuloke very long and I wasn't. I had not even unpacked all the way.

Lopburi is a ward and it has about 90 ish people coming to church. It's quite crazy! I love it my new companion. He is on his 2nd transfer as a missionary. We will see how it goes....... training it's gonna be good! This ward works fantastically. It's a very nice comfy area. There are monkeys everywhere as well and they are just as mean as they were in the Khumps. I will start carrying my slingshot again. It's gonna be good. I still am flummoxed why I am here in Lopburi. I am trying to figure out why I am here we shall see. I do not know how long I will be here. Don't worry I will be speaking "Thaiglish" when I give my talk because English is hard.......
It is so weird that Tean is home, next is Mister Kikel well! It's CRAZY! Next Preston, Raquel- then it will be me..... :( its very sad but it's good

Yesterday, I went to a special meeting with Elder Gong of the seventy at President Senior's house. It was so cool! I loved the meeting. It was a fantastic moment! Oh yeah so cool! I sat right across from Elder Gong  and President Senior was sitting right next to him. It was awesome!

I love our mission president! He is a champion. He has taught me so much!

Leading a meeting- intense... January 18

Well this week was pretty intense... we basically invited the whole week. We went and found less active members. We talked to one who has decided it's her time to go home. She can't eat anything and she has always an inexplicable tiredness around her. She says she is going to go home and meet her Heavenly Father soon. Then we went and visited one of our investigators who has to wait till next year to be baptized because she can't get married until this Asian project called ASEAN opens up because her husband does not have a visa. So she cant get married..:( After we taught her and her family we went and gave a blessing to her son who is a Burmese soldier who got shot 7ish years ago. He has 17 bullets in him and has been paralyzed for 6 years.... laying on a bed. We gave him a blessing. In the blessing, he was promised that he would stand up one day in the future and be a tool in the Lord's hands for spreading the gospel. It's going to be awesome!

The cold weather in Utah would "slay" me right now because I am a wimp when it comes to the cold right now! I am slowly adjusting to my new area! Yesterday I had to lead sacrament meeting because the branch president was in Udorn. Talk about intense... I sat all alone on the stand, oh it was so weird! I led everyone through the whole meeting. All 62 people-so intense! After that I had to lead a baptismal service as well, because well I am the 1st counselor and what not... it was way intense! I have so much more respect for bishops and branch presidents, because leading one of those meetings can be quite intimidating, especially when you have never done one before.  You just kinda jump in feet first and pray that you don't fail miserably! WOOOOOO!!!!

NOW ITS HOT during the days! But freezing in the mornings! The city I am in, is pretty big. It's a place tourist come and visit a lot because its got old things, but for us missionaries its really hard to get to these places with our time limitations. We have to be back in our area by 6 pm.
This week, I felt protected by 3 angels sent from Father in Heaven.

All about a train ride...... January 11

I am in an area called Phitsunaloke. I am with Elder Kettavong, an elder I have served around with before. I also have been called to be the first counselor in the branch presidency. It's quite fun!

To get here I sat on a train for 7 hours by myself and the whole time I was getting hit on by a old guy.  While I was on the train, i got to know this couple from Chang Mai, really well. As we approached the train station, they told me the train wouldn't stop for long. So.... they threw my bags out the window at me. After that i ran to the front of the train and grabbed my bike. Then the train rolled away- it was intense!

The way I found out that I was  moving was that President  Senior called and asked if it would cause problems if I were to leave on Tuesday. (To help clarify what was going on.... Aaron had some member being enamored with him to the point where it was a bit unsafe for him to be there. I was not allowed to mention where he was- he since has been transferred again, however, I will not mention where he is for the moment being- as per request. )I told him that it would not and started packing my bags. President Senior never called back that day,  so I gathered I would  not  move. On Wednesday, Elder Beebe suggested that I should reorganize my bags to even the weight out. We did that and then on Thursday, after eating lunch we got a call from the assistant to the presidents and they  told me I would go to P....and that I needed to get there that day by myself.... CRAZY..... (In general missionaries don't travel by themselves)

I then  got  on the  train and sat there for about an hour just staring out the window and contemplating life  when this old man sat next to me -dressed very smartly and talked to me for a bit. Then I started reading my scriptures after he fell asleep. Eventually I  fell asleep and suddenly I  woke up and it's "darkish" I though.... SUCK.... did I miss my stop..... A couple on the train looked at me and just laughed. They told me not to worry, that my stop would not be  for another 2 hour. I arrived  at 8 30 at nigh and had left Ayutthaya at 2  in the afternoon.

It had rained the past 3 days, I  wrecked one of my shirts then I found out we have no investigators, because the last missionary scared them all away 555(Thai for hahahah) just the life of Elder Proctor .....This past Sunday I spent the whole day translating. I really like translating, it's way fun. I am super pumped to be here even though it had to happen in such a odd way. (Mom's note...I skipped one week- he did not have much to say and was mostly upset about the situation with the member. He had been so happy in Ayutthaya and had finally found some people to teach- but of course, in true Aaron fashion- he tries to see the positive..)

Don't ever give up! December 31

Well just think you got to sit in the Lord's house for 2 hours- in the most holy and sacred place in the world! Is not that fantastic? I feel it is fantastic! I would have loved that. I miss the temple oh so much! It's so hard to understand how great temples are until you are in a country where there is not a temple close at all. You have to fly there and the average member cannot afford to even think about going. I am thinking of a member in the ghumps area who I love very much. She may never have a chance to go to the temple in Hong Kong because she collects garbage for a living. She is one of the most humble people I have ever met. She has so much faith in God, it's not even funny. She is an awesome example to me.Even when her husband kicked her out of the house for helping the elders, she did not care. She continued to help us, even at the risk of her family's life and what not, she put her trust in God and things happened that made it possible for her to continue going to church. It's fantastic! Do what is right and let the consequences follow. It is a great phrase to live by. God always makes thing happen to help us grow.
Elder Richard G. Scott said:
"Your decisions are like switch points on a railroad system. They determine where you will end up in life. When you consistently make the right choices, you are the happiest, receive the greatest personal growth, and have the most productive life. When you make the wrong choices, you may find yourself at an entirely different destination than you want. While there is the process of repentance to come back, it is often painful and sometimes leaves permanent physical scars that cannot be cured as well as your spirit can.
At one time I worked on the immediate staff of a very hardworking, demanding, misunderstood man who became the father of the nuclear navy that provided great protection for the United States at a critical time in world conditions. His name is Hyman Rickover. I have great respect for him. After 11 years in that service, I received a call from the First Presidency to preside over a mission. I knew I would have to tell Admiral Rickover immediately. As I explained the call and that it would mean I would have to quit my job, he became rather excited. He said some unrepeatable things, broke the paper tray on his desk, and in the comments that followed, clearly established two points: “Scott, what you are doing in this defense program is so vital that it will take a year to replace you, so you can’t go. Second, if you do go, you are a traitor to your country.”
I said, “I can train my replacement in the two remaining months, and there won’t be any risk to the country.”
There was more conversation, and he finally said, “I never will talk to you again. I don’t want to see you again. You are finished, not only here, but don’t ever plan to work in the nuclear field again.”
I responded, “Admiral, you can bar me from the office, but unless you prevent me, I am going to turn this assignment over to another individual.”
He asked, “What’s the name of the man who wants you?”
I told him, “President David O. McKay.”
He added, “If that’s the way Mormons act, I don’t want any of them working for me.”
I knew he would try to call President McKay (1873–1970), who was ill, and that conversation would benefit no one. I also knew that in the Idaho Falls area there were many members of the Church whose families depended upon their working in our program. I didn’t want to cause them harm. I also knew that I had been called by the Lord. I didn’t know what to do. Then, the words of the song we sang tonight began to run through my mind: “Do what is right; let the consequence follow” (Hymns, number 237). While I had never contacted a General Authority in my life, I had been interviewed by Elder Harold B. Lee (1899–1973) of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, so I had a feeling to call him. I explained that the admiral would try to call President McKay and would make some negative comments, but everything was all right and I would be able to accept my call. While doing that, my heart kept saying, “Is this going to turn out all right or will somebody be innocently hurt who depends on our program for livelihood?” The song would come back: “Do what is right; let the consequence follow.” True to his word, the admiral ceased to speak to me. When critical decisions had to be made, he would send a messenger or I would communicate through a third party. We accomplished the changeover.
On my last day in the office I asked for an appointment with him, and his secretary gasped. I went with a copy of the Book of Mormon in my hand. He looked at me and said, “Sit down, Scott. What do you have? I have tried every way I can to force you to change. What is it you have?”
There followed a very interesting, quiet conversation. There was more listening this time. He said he would read the Book of Mormon. Then something I never thought would occur happened. He added, “When you come back from the mission, I want you to call me. There will be a job for you.”
You will have challenges and hard decisions to make throughout your life. Be determined now to always do what is right and let the consequence follow. The consequence will always be for your best good. You will learn that it is easiest over the long run to stand for what is right and do the difficult thing to begin with. Once you take that position, following through is not too hard. An individual who cuts corners and justifies some departure from true standards, for whatever reason, finds that seeds are planted that produce problems later. Those problems are far more difficult to overcome than taking a correct stand initially.
Do what is right even though it seems you will be alone in so doing, that you are going to lose friends, that you will be criticized. What you will find is that by doing what is right, after a period of testing, the finest friends will be discovered and you can mutually support each other in your resolve to be obedient to all of the commandments of the Lord. I have never been sorry on any occasion that I stood for what was right even against severe criticism. You will learn that truth. You will also discover that when you have taken a determined stand for right, when you have established personal standards and made covenants to keep them, when temptations come and you act according to your standards, you will be reinforced and given strength beyond your own capacity, if that is needed. Difficulty comes when you enter the battle of temptation without a fixed plan. That is what Satan desires, for then you are ripe for defeat."
This is the Lord's work. The devil is as real as you and I. He wants us to fail in all our aspires. He hates us and knows he is wrong and he will loose in the end. But he is going to try and take down as many of the elect people he can, for he knows that if he wins he destroys a family. DON'T EVER GIVE UP, NO MATTER WHAT COMES OUR WAY!
This past week I spent some time with the assistants to the president and I was paired up with a Australian elder who is going home very soon. One thing he said to me stuck with me. He said," I don't want to finish a mission, I want  to finish being a missionary. Because just finishing a mission means you did not grow and you are going back home not changed at all."
I also remember him saying during his last testimony that everyone gives at their last zone conference. He said this is not the end. The mission does not end when  you go home . You are a forever missionary and its' going to be great!
Oh man, my time in this great country has sailed by so fast. I have 3 months and 16 days left. That's such a short time. I have 2 transfers left that is nothing. I have gotten way good at bowling. So let's go when I come home! Favorite Thai treat would be the bread that tastes like a scone. It is covered in corn flakes.... so good. Another favorite Thai food is papaya salad that has 10 peppers in it and the thing called crying tiger yum or sunfries pork SOO GOOD!

Merry (freezing) Christmas! December 24

HEY MERRY FREEZING CHRISTMAS!!!!
Well  this past week has been so cold in Thailand! I actually wear a scarf to bed and when I wake up, because oh it's so cold!! It is probably about 70ish and it so cold ahhhhh hahahah. (Yes,he needs a reality check! It was about 20 degrees here...) I usually take  a shower in water that is like 50 degrees, so its just freeing cold! Yesterday, we had  a water pump installed. Before I was using a bowl and scooping water out of a tub and splashing myself down everyday for the past 2ish months. I took a shower today, oh so nice, so very nice!

Christmas!!! It was super fun to see your faces and hear your voices. I am super glad everyone is  good. I am happy to see you all are growing in the  gospel and just being awesome!

This past Monday we went out and went tracting and just talked to all these people in their houses and stuff. Then we went and started to build a wat! A bunch of Mormons building a Thai Buddhist temple super funny! The Thai people almost had a heart attack so funny! We then just went and taught our investigator who works for the royal family. It's so cool! She works with tribal leaders that are angry and she goes and fixes things up so cool!!!!!!!!

I love being a missionary in Thailand, so much fun!!! We have been running in the mornings. I am so healthy .muhahahaha
Let's see we have been seriously inviting everyone. We just go and go to bring the word of God to them all! They just don't know that they need the gospel. All of the people here are our brothers and sisters.

A couple of nights ago Elder Heiner and I were talking and it made me think. I laid there and rethought my commitments to serving the Lord and how much I need to share this glorious message to everyone. It was low moment. I was getting pretty down on myself for not being able to achieve the miracles I want to achieve. But God works in many ways. He used that moment to remind me how important this message is and how much I need to share it!

This past week I have started to see how much I need to adapt and change myself to be a better leader for my district and how much I needed to become a better person. We went and did service with a member. We are helping him come back to activity because he can speak English and he can hold positions a as a leader. All is well in Ayuttya. This is the Lord's work. We all have a part in it, little things here and there... we can do to inspire bless and raise! Look for the moments daily!

We had a Christmas activity and 104 people came. It was a miracle!

Transfers December 14

We went to transfers and then ... nothing happened we were...Yeah lots of elders found out that day that they would be moving hahah it was way funny yeah. I love seeing my friends. It's always fun to see those kids. I love my friends!!!  I am not coming home. I am going to be a  missionary forever! I love being  a missionary. It is so much fun! This week was what I call a" pday ".
We went to stake conference and well the stake now has a patriarch. It's so cool. I love this work its the best work ever I love it. The miracle this week was that I am realizing my purpose here in this area. I  have been hoping for an opportunity to help those that are a lost and help them come back!

Mormons seem to have horns after all!

Miracles December 7

Well this week went by very fast... too fast to be honest. The spirit of Christmas is a fantastic thing! You know it helps me feel so happy, always, no matter the hardships or trials I go through. It's nothing because with the love of Christ you can overcome anything. Well this week was the 12th week with no baptisms and 2nd week with no investigators at church. In all honesty, we have no investigators, but all is well, for the Lord has a grander plan, which I have yet to find out what it is. So we are adapting and letting the Lord change us into the person that he wants us to become!
Awesome miracles of the week,  being able to have one more Christmas in Thailand and oh man i love singing Christmas songs!
A miracle that happened this week, that I find swell and odd.... so we were inviting and I walked up to this lady, who is about to close the door to her store and I asked her if she wants to be cleansed of her sins. She looked at me and laughed and slammed the door in my face. I was like OK...?..reason being was that the spirit has prompted me to go and invite her and I was super confused. As we were walking around the corner, she came sprinting out of the door and started shouting at us that she was interested. We stopped and she told us that she thought that I had asked if she wanted to wash her fish...?... In Thai when you say บาป  incorrectly it sounds like ปลา. (There is your Thai lesson for the day). In all honesty, I have been sick this whole week BWHAHAH....
Another miracle happened while we were sitting at the house getting ready to teach a recent convert. While on the phone, I  had a feeling to get out and go "invite" some more. I told Elder Beebe and we went out and started inviting at about 8:15 at night. When out of no where comes a less active member and starts teaching with us while we are inviting. The less active members then asks us if we want to come to his house and teach his mom and we are... LIKE YES! So we went and taught her. Turns out she was taught by the elders 10 years ago and she remembered the Plan of Salvation as well as prayer, AWESOME!
We are working on getting a Christmas tree...if not I will just go into the swamp behind the house and cut a tree down form there hahahha.
At zone conference I got a blueprint of the Plan of Happiness, oh so cool! Also another cool moment ...there are now missionary sisters in Laos .WWOOOOOH! The work is hastening, yes we were caroling its so fun!

I got to talk to President Senior. I had been feeling pretty low because, well this area was supposed to grow very fast and its not and I felt like I had failed pretty bad. He told me how grateful he was for me. I was so happy to hear that and I felt like God was telling me that.
We travelled for about 2 hours to get to where we were caroling. Well yeah then we took a train home.
This morning we had a spider the size of a dollar bill on the ceiling. It was crazy fast... I took out a electric fly swatter and took it out yeah.I am going to go and find someone hungry and feed them, visit the sick and clothe the naked.

I love you.

Never forget the joy this message brings you! November 30

I was in a Christmas program on Saturday. It was a miracle that I could sing. I had lost my voice that very day, yeah I have not had my voice for almost 2 days. It's back now so don't worry! It was a devotional about how we need to remember the importance of Christmas. Ttomorrow we are going caroling, it's gonna be great! I see Elder Black weekly, because I interview his investigators viaskype. It's always fun to see him  and to hear his testimony.

I am sorry that my grammar is rubbish. I don't speak proper English in this country ever... lolz
I do what i am told to do....  I know it because my mother knows it.......

Well thisThanksgiving was like last years....  I  had a fried chicken...it was tiny.....
well marriage is big thing its quite important

YAY for Family Home Evening...(I told him how we had put up our Christmastree) We are thinking of getting a Christmas tree and what not because... well it's not very "Christmasy" here .....no snow and no spirit of Christmas.
Well let's see..... this week we went and just walked and talked with everyone but no investigators at church, which kinda tanked. We have no investigators at this moment still (we have not had investigators at church in like a month...) but you know what- the Lord has a plan. We cannot comprehend. We just need to press on and help those who have fallen from the gospel and help them grasp the iron rod once more. (Lehi's dream in the Book of Mormon.  Because- well this gospel is the most important thing, next to life!
We really spent the whole day on foot. We walked to a market that was 10 kilometers away, so we could find those that were ready to hear the gospel.  Sadly, no success. We really have walked so far and talked so much, but the Lord is in the workings.  He knows better then we do- in all things
I now see everyone as a future temple president or relief society president or a future couple sealed in a temple.
Every one is on the same path home  We all are walking treading the path of those who are lost.
We seek prayingly and wonder is there anyone there to hear our prayers?
As we feel the despair all around us a thought crosses my mind, is there hope?
As the prophets of ole declare, fear not the Lord is there!
We have a duty, we have a calling, a divine destiny if you wish to bring the great and glorious message to those who are lost and show to them the despair is not real.
We need to show the world there is someone there to hear their prayer. He is waiting with arms wide open.He hears and cries when we cry. He rejoices when we rejoice.
Christ is always there and so is the Father. Never forget the joy this message gives.

Super short and to the point ..... November 23

It was a fun week. There was lots of walking and talking, as missionaries do. It was quite fun! I love walking and talking with those that are Thai.

Well, super funny moment in church... the opening prayer was the Lord's prayer. It was really funny. As he starts, I am sitting there and as he starts it sounds somewhat similar to what I had read in the scriptures.... and well he said," Lord forgive us as we forgive our debtors"... and then it all clicked and I was taken aback.

You are telling me this year has sailed by. Before I even know it, I will be in a plane.... aghh.
Time flies here! It's super fun!

I love my comp. He is a awesome! It's a very fun time serving with him. I love this work. It's the Lord's work and it is to bring them back to the fold.

Adventures of the week..... well, we had a wild pig the size of a cow appear by the church. The beast was massive! Well lets see what happened that was super exciting hmm...... well I ate blood-filled food... I also found out that I  cannot eat squid. It makes me super sick,,,,,,

This week was a week of going out and hunting down those that are lost already and finding those that are ready. We went and invited as hard as we could. We were striving to achieve a goal of having 100 at church well we fell short 35 people. Ouch!

I have slowly come to the conclusion why I am here in Attuyaha. There are a few families here that I have known since Kumpahwapi. I am here to bring them back. I am also here to help out this white  man and his wife come back.  They are a fantastic family. He was a soldier and told us that God has sparred him to be here to help the work in Thailand. He was blown up once, was shot 5 times through many wars and he was bayoneted.

I am here in Thailand only for a short time now. I have so little time now its not even funny. I am not looking forward to coming home and facing the real world and all its darkness. I am so close to finishing. Christmas is almost here. This month is almost over. It's scary. I don't want to see the evilness in this world. I have started to realize  that I need to focus more on bringing those back that have strayed from the path. It's not good to leave the fold.If you leave you may never come back, unless you have help from the Lord and help from members.
I love this work. I know it to be true.

Elder Khanakam's visit- a true inspiration November 16

HELLO!
Hahah yeah I was going to mention it(just the minor detail that he had a camera crew follow him and his companion, Elder Howard around while they were talking to people on the streets of Bangkok.... )but I forgot sorry! It was quite fun. I really liked it to be honest .... I felt famous lolz ....that's why I am in Ayutthaya  to be a secret ninja! Hahah

People serving missions its the best! It makes life so super duper!! AAHHAHAHAHAH I am so glad Spencer is going on a mission. Miracles happen when you believe and have the faith to do it!
It was a way good week- well actually a very tough one- but ended very well. This past Sunday Elder Khanakam, who is a very good friend of mine ,(he is the Thai seventy) came and surprised our branch with a visit. I got to teach with him WOOAH! It was super fun. I had flashbacks to when I was a "greenie" with him in Khonkaen, He has a power around him. He is an awesome man. We spent the whole day talking with him and him teaching us. Oh so much fun, feeling the spirit and YEAHH!!!!
Sister Khanakam, his wife, had me share what it feels like to see someone change.
We were sitting in a branch counsel when she asked me to do that and I shared it with the members. The spirit was so strong there. It was an amazing experience. I felt the spirit literally burning n me like a fire  oh so cool! Elder Khanakam told the ward council that he wants us to be a ward by December 30.
The miracle of the week..... so 2 weeks ago our cellphone was destroyed by water while an investigator was calling it. We still have no clue how it happened.  Anyhow, the phone did not save her number and last week she did not come to English class. We had no way of contacting her. So on Wednesday Elder Beebe is like,  "Hey lets walk to the church to teach a Recent Convert", and I'm like...OK.. We get to to the church teach the recent convert. We finish teaching her at about 8:50 pm, so we close up the church and walk back. It's about 9:10pm when all of the sudden we hear someone shouting," ELDER ELDER!!!" We turn around and see this investigator pulling up in her car. She then asked if she could give us a ride and we told her no. But we were so excited to see her because we hadn't seen her in like 2 weeks. We got her phone number and sprinted home WOOAH!  MIRACLE! I LOVE THE GOSPEL!

Aaron on Thai TV. He can be seen throughout the show.

Going up the mountian holding on to the iron rod...... November 9

Well my new area is a freaking funtastic. I love it! It's super fun. It is super fun to go and explore it. The members are super willing and they love us. Sorry that this email came so late. I went on   freaking crazy hiking today. It was awesome! We climbed up to the top of a mountain. It was a super cool similitude of life. There was a iron rod in the middle of the path and in the beginning I didn't rely on it. But as the going got harder I would rely on it more and more until i was using it to heave myself up the mountain side as sweat was pouring down my whole body! As we came closer to the top we could see the gate to the wat and oh man it was a very happy time! We relied on the rod even more. As we all know the rod is the word of God (1. Ne 11:25).  In the begining you rely on yourself and as you go along in life you rely more and more on that word and core beliefs that push you on and on...That is my little soap box about the adventure 5555!

(I am following a Facebook page called Unseen Thailand. I had just shared a picture of a special Buddha- unbeknowst to me- Aaron visited that very Buddha during that time....)
My new comp is just like me.... spunky crazy and super willing to go to work and bring those back into the Kingdom of God.The world is a very small place and it well has some fun things happen in it.
So this past Saturday I was basically swimming in a swamp, pushing lily pads out all day long it was nasty- mind you Iam in a boat yeah! We live in a 100 percent Buddhist place. It's very pretty and there are many wonderful things here. I ride my bike daily and there are 4 of us here. We have Elder Gandun and Elder Heiner, two people I really like a lot! We also have good food everywhere. It is super yummy!

Transferred to Ayutthaya November 2

I have been transferred. I  am no longer in Bangkhae. I am in Ayuttya the the old capital of Thailand. It is super Buddhist probably about 250 Christians, yeah its gonna be great!

So this past week revolved around transfers. After I moved here, I went and helped  built a bridge in someone's backyard, got in a boat in the the pond that we built a bridge in and pulled out weeds while in a boat! Super fun! So yeah it was good! I went to church yesterday. We had like 48 people but the spirit was so strong in the room. I  felt like I was with a big family. It was super cool!

Then we made the mistake last night of telling each other ghost stories and wooha bad idea when you are in a super funky spiritual area.  something was awry last night and none of us could sleep, so we sat and read Scripture's 555! We learned our lesson not to ever talk about ghost before bed because they are real and are out there WOOOH!

So this past Halloween was "meh" again nothing happened at all...  I just read wore a orange tie that was it!
This past transfer all of my sisters (MTC district) finished and I received the "death papers" (information for goal setting and getting ready to come home....) and I  am sad so I  have not read them yet! hahah I need to do it asap, but I don't want to because that means I will be a "dead" missionary super soon! AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH

I want to be a Mission President because of him. I will ask him how it is done! (This was in reference to commenting on how fun President Senior looked in one of the transfer meetings)
My comp had no idea that he was transferring so I had to wait 6 hours for him to get down to Bangkok and then we got in a car and drove 3 hour.  His name is Elder Beebe, he has been on his mission for 6 months There are ancient ruins everywhere her in Ayutthaya. There are wads(Buddhist temples) on  every corner. It's like ward buildings in  Utah- one on every corner.  Except Buddhist style! WOO! That was the week not much really happened.

A quick reminder October 27

When your missionary struggles-you struggle. I have always been so impressed with Aaron's positive attitude. There really only has been on email without any positive thoughts in it. Considering the fact that he has been on his mission for 18 months now, that is quite an achievement. The loss of the memory card was rough, October in itself was one of the harder parts of his mission for me. He worked so hard without any success. But then he sent this to us and I have to be honest, I bawled like a baby. To have such faith. What a blessing he is to his family.

"The Lord always is there through thick and thin. I love this gospel. It is the best news the world has to hear. Trials come our way to make us come closer to God to make us like him.
There is a quote I wrote inside my planner. It says "The key to know God is to struggle". I testify of the truthfulness of that quote. I struggle daily and I see how I have come to know God even more. I love these people and I see the flaws in myself that I can improve. I see how this world God created, is to help us become like him. To struggle is the only way to grow and fulfill our potential. Trials are the way to become perfect."

The Lord's hand is always there... October 27

Well today is Monday the 20th you will receive this the 19th..... we are time traveling. I am "calling" from the future you are from the past isn't it odd???!!!

I saw the preview for that movie on the churches website. It looks so cool!!!! i want to watch it so bad..  it's not even funny!  9 we went and saw the movie "Meet the Mormons" this past week)
Well, well, well... This week was so tough again... just another week in paradise we have been giving it our all and well- it's tough having no investigators!  BRIAN is soo freaking tall. OH sounds way fun. It just sounds like you kids had some way fun time together I am happy! (we went to San Francisco for 5 days in October)

Mum just remember that if you study your scriptures, pray, keep the Word of Wisdom, you will be able to receive blessings out the wazoo!
Well it was  a very tough week of walking out of Bangkok and back into Bangkok. Yes that is  right. I  walked out of Bangkok into the city called "Genesis".  Nakhon Brathom is its name in Thai!
Besides that we just were talking to everyone who had a face. They were very hard hearted. Heck, yesterday I almost got my face punched.... wooho!
So what happened was that I invited this man who had just done crazy eyes to his wife. I invited him to learn more about the gospel. He got way upset and started yelling at me," No no no no!" and then I said in Thai you don't need to have bad manners about it. HE FLIPPED OUT! Staggered to his feet and started to come to me cussing. Then his wife intervened. She looked at me and said in English, "Sir sorry " then "switched to Thai to tell me that they had just been fighting. I looked at her and said that I was sorry and that I will pray for her. She stared crying and said,"God bless you."  Some days I hate being just a mere mortal man. It was a pretty tough week.
I have been enjoying training. It is quite a blast. To be honest, it helps me feel like I'm giving back to the Lord by training a new missionary and helping him be prepared for whatever comes his way. I feel like Elder Susi. I say a name of a missionary and Elder Howard has a blank look in his eyes. All my friends are "dead" (have finished their missions) and the sisters from my MTC district finish in like 2 weeks. It is so crazy!

The work on our side appears to have hit a brick wall, but our district  itself is getting more and more baptisms. It's awesome! While we may not have success, we can still rejoice in the success of others.
The branch itself is still growing. Step by step... they are all so willing it's awesome.
The Lord's hand is always there. Guiding me and making sure I don't do dumb things a lot. He pushes me just enough to change and become someone better daily. It's awesome!

The one where the memory card with all the pictures of his mission was lost...... October 19

(I am 6 weeks behind when it comes to updating Aaron's blog. I won't lie- October was a tough month for our missionary. He loved training Elder Howard and being a District leader. He really struggled with the fact that they could not find any new investigators.---And then he lost his memory card-it contained all the pictures of his mission. I won't leave you with a cliffhanger.... he never did find his memory card. We are all quite sad about it.)

Well this week was a very hard week, to be honest. It started out with me losing my memory card with all my pics from my mission. So I know it is silly to ask but will you pray that I can find that because it is very important. I need to print out some pics for A. I hope it will bring him back. (As sad as it has been that he has lost his memory card, I was really touched by the fact that his main concern was that he had hoped to print out some pics to help someone remember the good times they had had and to hopefully remind him of the importance of the gospel.)

Well it was a very hard week again. We had what appeared to have zero  success again. We had no one come to appointments again but oh well. We must do it all again this week and bring those that the Lord has prepared back to the fold.
Well, it rained pretty hard this past week. It was enough to cause the road by our house to flood with ankle deep water that was coming from the Khlong (sewer system).  Wohoo walking through that was quite fun!

When I think of this week, I feel it was so tiring. I am quite ready for a break !
General Conference... woot ....was super fun, but we still have not watched all of it. We still need to get to watch the Sunday morning session.
So I wrote questions down for conference and wow they were all answered. It was super cool to see! I knew the lord was watching over us and teaching us how to be better missionaries and just better people.
I  want to challenge the whole family to exercises because that is a commandment of God. Just go on a walk together as a family before dinner instead of just watching TV. Give it a shot!
Challenges they are never ending. It seems I always seem to be be challenged daily and I am a little worn out.  But I must press on and fight. J have become battle weary as the man of Antipus in the scriptures. But I know that the Lord is sending us reinforcements whether they be angels or new missionaries or even a seventy coming and lifting our spirits. We are in a great and glorious war that started in Heaven and is still continuing here on this earth. This war.... well we will win it because that's what we do as LDS members we bring the fight to the forfront
I have met people that look at me and hate me for the name-tag that I wear. I kill them with kindness and then they feel silly for being so angry at me.
I love this work mom. It is the best job ever! It's tough, but we can do it!

Go forward in faith even if your shoes break.... Ocotber 11

This past week we were going hard all day and seriously I felt like we were doing everything we could do and well it was tough. I felt like I was back in Khonkaen again with Elder Susi.  No easy moments, always struggling to rise to the challenge because we are here to bring those who are ready to the gospel. You must find the light. You must have faith to rise up and become a true disciple of the Lord. Yeah that's how I feel right now.
"How glorious are the feet of those that proclaim the gospel... If you could see my shoes right now.... and you will see them... don't worry you will see them in 6 months or so... Oh yeah missionary life is the life of continuous growth and change. The world is so close to falling apart, it's not even funny. This world is so dark but the Lord is increasing the amount of light he is pouring out right now.

It took 30 min to get there ( His district went and visited a col wat-temple)It was away cool! It's pretty nice and I ran into a member from Japan there and talked to him about the gospel and asked him why he was here. He was studying , so yeah!
Well our district goes hard all day every day. You're right I need to step back and see how far we have come. Because it is awesome to see how far we have come. I have seen myself change as well. Yeah
that's life Jim!
I love the gospel. I know it to be the most true thing ever. I know with every fiber of my soul that iI cannot reject this glad message. It is to good. It is delicious and has changed my life for the better.
Oh yeah this past week Elder Howard baptized the sisters' investigator. He has been here for 2 weeks and he speaks Thai super well.  I think he is a champion!
